About MN RIMS

The Minnesota Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) was founded in 1937 and has grown to one of the nation's largest RIMS chapters with approximately 200 deputy members. The chapter offers 6-8 events each year, which include networking opportunities, guest speakers addressing important topics in the risk management industry, and round table discussions on pertinent issues. 

Along with the educational and networking support provided to our membership, the chapter is committed to providing students with educational opportunities through seminars and workshops (offered to full-time students at no cost), speakers, internships, and scholarships.

MN RIMS Mission  

Advance the risk management profession through networking, communications, education, and professional development.

Objective

Board of Directors: Advance the risk management profession by providing input and direction on proposed MN RIMS initiatives, sessions, and events.

Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate 5-6 programming sessions each year by identifying and scheduling speakers and venues, in cooperation with sponsoring organizations and other committee members.
  • Coordinate annual membership appreciation / social event.
  • Ensure programming sessions are publicized by working with external administrator and communications leader for the chapter.
  • Attend programming sessions and provide onsite assistance.
  • Investigate "partnering" educational opportunities with other organizations, including other RIMS chapters.
  • Ensure spending on programming events complies with allocated annual budget.

Terms/Participation

The Programs Committee Director shall serve as long as desired, or at the discretion of the Board. The time commitment for this position is typically 4-6 hours per month depending on activities/projects. 

Qualifications

The Programs Committee Director shall be a “Professional Member” or an “Associate Member” of an Organizational Member of MN RIMS. Ability to utilize contacts and network for speakers/presenters is a plus.
