Along with our standard lunch meetings, we provided different options for the local risk community to come together for learning, networking, and plain old fun. Our workers’ comp update drew a record crowd in January, and we followed that in February with an evening happy hour at the global headquarters of Alteryx. In May, we joined with OCASSP for an exclusive tour of the Honda Center. Also in May, OCRIMS affiliates enjoyed the many aspects of RISKWORLD San Diego. July was the month of the OCRIMS annual golf tournament, appropriately themed “Golflympics” this year. There was a huge turnout and everyone had a lot of fun while helping to fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in insurance and risk management. The annual joint meeting with our pals from Orange Empire CPCU was an evening event on August 8 at the offices of ATI Restoration in Anaheim. We opened with an hour of networking and a hosted bar featuring ATI’s own private-label beer. Most recently in November, our Chapter partnered with the American Red Cross for a special presentation on disaster preparedness. Participants were highly engaged throughout the session, taking home valuable techniques to enhance preparedness in their homes and businesses.
As you can see, we took a creative approach and went beyond the norm with our monthly events. That will continue in 2025, as we begin with a special virtual event presented in conjunction with the Surplus Line Association of California on Thursday, January 16th. I encourage you to participate to learn about supply chain risks in the insurance ecosystem and their growing relevance in today’s global economy.
