President's Message

Our October 10th meeting will be a presentation by Marsh, a chapter Executive Sponsor, on employment practices and wage and hour matters, and we’ll be meeting at Maggiano’s again. We are working on a great topic for November, so stay tuned for details. We will wind up the year with our annual holiday gala, which is always a great time to network and celebrate the holidays.

OCRIMS is a staunch supporter of the School of Risk Management and Insurance at Cal State Fullerton. SRMI has a terrific track record of preparing students for careers in our field. Its annual iDay is the chance for students to meet representatives showcasing a wide variety of professional opportunities, including risk management positions and jobs with insurance companies, brokers and other affiliated services. This year, iDay is on campus at CSUF on October 23. Companies can participate by having a table so their talent acquisition teams can meet students in person. There are also multiple sponsorship opportunities to raise brand awareness among the students. The title sponsorship is still available, and it includes the privilege of providing the keynote speaker for the event! Please see the flyer in the newsletter for information.

OCRIMS will have a table at iDay, and we are looking for volunteers to spend a couple of hours to introduce students to the benefits of RIMS. There may also be a need for speakers and mock interviewers. If you are interested, email drich@fullerton.edu for more information.

The Spencer Educational Foundation is also supporting SRMI this October with its Risk Manager on Campus program. In conjunction with Marsh, our very own Cynthia Garcia of Bernards will be meeting with students and faculty, and leading a team of guest lecturers.

Hope to see you at an OCRIMS event soon!

Live long and prosper. Sincerely, Diana Rich
