     Acknowledgement of Annette Ethier

    Annette__2_.jpg

At the March 29, 2022 MARIMS lunch meeting, Annette Ethier was acknowledged for her role as President of the Manitoba Chapter of RIMS for the 2018 – 2020 term.

Unfortunately, with the arrival of COVID-19 in 2020, the Chapter had to delay the formal in-person recognition of Annette in her role as president.

Annette has volunteered for MARIMS since she joined the government of Manitoba in the fall of 2009. Annette’s first role supporting the Chapter was registering MARIMS members for all Chapter events, including lunch meetings, educational sessions, and the annual golf tournament.

Annette also assisted the MARIMS Education Chair behind the scenes.  For many years Annette has prepared all of the Educational Credits Certificates and has been the person who has coordinated with the Insurance Council of Manitoba to record credit hours approved for each lunch meeting and educational session.

Annette graduated to the formal role of Chapter Secretary and to being the face at the meeting registration desk and to processing receipts.  Whether assisting with the annual Christmas gift shopping or wrapping, or coordinating venues and meals for educational sessions, no job was considered too big or too small.  Annette has always been willing to lend a hand.  For that reason Annette accepted the nomination as MARIMS Chapter President in the spring of 2018.

In addition to acknowledging Annette’s volunteer efforts with MARIMS and presenting her with her Past President’s plaque, Chapter members were able to bid her a fond farewell.  After a 30+ year career in the insurance industry, Annette has retired and started the next chapter of her life.

On behalf of the Manitoba Chapter of MARIMS, Annette is wished the very best from all of us!

    ____________________________________________________________________
Please consider joining MARIMS for lunch on Tuesday, March 29th.

Nerds1.jpgWith the removal of most of the Provincial Health COVID Restrictions, MARIMS has organized an in-person luncheon, the first since March of 2020.
We have been waiting for our return to in-person luncheon meetings so that we could acknowledge the contributions of Annette Ethier, Past President of MARIMS (2018 – 2020). Please join MARIMS in acknowledging Annette’s dedicated and hard work on behalf of the Chapter.
As the planned December meeting was cancelled, we will also be celebrating “Christmas in March”. The usual complimentary Christmas gifts will be provided, along with an open wine bar.
Our educational topic will be, “The State of the Market” presented by Aon. (Educational Credits will be available, Wow, wine with educational credits…. It doesn’t get much better)

    Here's the scoop....
    Where: Bergmann’s on Lombard – Tuesday – March 29th, 2022
What: Luncheon – Wine and Gifts and Education – 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM.

If you are considering attending this event, please confirm your intention to attend ASAP so that we may add your name to the booking.

santa_happy_dance_lg_clr.gifThe MaRIMS executive has had to cancel its plans for an in person  group lunch on December 23, 2021 due to changing Pandemic restrictions in the Province.

    However here is the scoop....

MARIMS – Virtual Christmas Luncheon Meeting.

    Thursday – December 23, 2021

11:00 AM Education component Guest Speaker = Dr. Sergio Fanella

Dr. Fanella will be talking about bacterial based disease spread associated with antibiotic resistant bacteria. There was thought that a pandemic might spread arising from “superbugs”, strains of bacteria resistant to antibiotics. In recent years general wards and surgical wards of hospitals have seen closures due to the localized spread of superbugs within their facilities. Sergio will speak to inappropriate antimicrobial prescribing - antibiotic over prescription, and the effect on bacteria – and the development of superbugs…

For those of us that have cottages along the Manitoba / Ontario border or deeper into NW Ontario, we might be able to “cajole” Sergio into talking about the more localized Blastomycosis for a few minutes.

Continuing Education Credits will be available.

Please join MARIMS for our next Virtual December lunch meeting:

    Date: Tuesday December 15, 2020
time: 12:00 Noon - Brief self introductions
    Presentation for 30 minutes
    Questions/ Feedback/ Comments 15-30 minutes
    No Charge for this event.

With our move to Virtual meetings, there has been little time to bath in the collegial chatter that we had become so used to, and dare we say that all of us had taken for granted, as we broke bread together over at Bergmann’s each month…. how so many of us now yearn for a return to those simpler in-person times together.

Minus the “hosted” wine, the December meeting will follow our usual tradition of a lite meeting where we will go around the attendees to ask you for your personal comments on the past year.

3Fnr7gF4QbaFi50oxEE6_temp-T.jpgPlease feel free to share your personal and professional stories about how COVID has affected you, your workplace, and the ones you love; and, how you have “dealt” with those changes and challenges….

Each attendee will be asked to share their comments and also one “clean” joke or riddle as part of their speaking time.

The Executive will also provide the year end global Darwin Awards to help lighten this meeting up a bit…

Let’s share our stories of challenges and of our successes from the past year and some laughs as we look forward to, and embrace with optimism, 2021, the year of the vaccine…..

    Thank you,
    MaRIMS Executive
