Susan Meltzer is now retired. She joined Aviva Canada, Inc. in 2006. She currently serves as VP, Enterprise Risk Management for Aviva Canadawith accountability for embedding ERM methodology across Aviva's businesses in Canada. Susan began her career in risk management and insurance in 1975, and has performed the risk management function at a number of major corporations, including Canada Development Corporation, Bell Canada, and Sun Life Financial. Susan has been active in the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) since 1983 in various capacities, including President of the Society in 1999-2000. Susan currently represents RIMS on the board of the International Federation of Insurance and Risk Management Associations (IFRIMA). She is the recipient of the 2001 Don Stuart Award for outstanding achievement in risk management and the 2005 Goodell Award for lifetime achievement in the field. She has taught at the University of Toronto and has been a Spencer ‘Risk Manager In Residence” at a number of major universities in Canada and the US.
