President's Letter

October 18, 2023

Dear Fellow MRIMS Members,

I hope that each of you are enjoying a wonderful start to the Fall season. Whether it is enjoying some leaf-peeping, parents’ weekends at college, or activities with family and friends, I hope time has been renewing and enjoyable.

The MRIMS board and committee members are excited for the 2023-24 MRIMS season. Last month we kicked off our education series with a Risk Manager luncheon. We were pleased to have risk professionals join us for a roundtable discussion on the current market, claims management and other matters that are impacting the risk community. Connections were made between members, which I trust will continue to be built upon as the year goes along.

I am pleased to announce a joint meeting with The Insurance Library of Boston on Wednesday, November 29th from 8:30-12:30 pm.  Bryan Tildon will lead us in an in-depth analysis entitled Contractual Risk Transfer Nuts and Bolts Seminar. The syllabus is comprehensive, providing insight and guidance for various risk professionals ranging from brokers to underwriters, claims and risk management professionals. If anyone has sat in on a Bryan Tildon class, you will surely recall that he is a highly effective risk educator. Mr. Tildon’s workshop has been approved for 3 CE’s.

We thank our event location sponsor, Zurich. They have a nicely appointed educational center at 100 High Street, Boston, MA. Check-in begins at 8:30 am, with the workshop starting at 9 am.  The seminar cost is $125. You may find the registration link on the MRIMS website. Please spread the word about this highly anticipated event; registration should fill up fast, so please register early.

Please save the date for our annual Holiday Networking Social, from 5-8:30 pm Thursday, December 14. Jen, Joe, Anastos and I are excited to host in a new location this year: The Calderwood Pavilion, 527 Tremont Street, Boston, MA. We are excited to welcome all of you to this much anticipated annual event where you can mingle with familiar risk professionals and have the opportunity to meet others, all while enjoying holiday cheer. Please mark your calendars as this event is one that Boston risk professionals do not want to miss!

We have several other educational events planned in 2024, including our March Spring Conference and June 3rd annual MRIMS Golf Outing at Blue Hills Country Club.

Please continue to reach out to me and fellow board members to share your thoughts and ideas.  We are here to ensure all risk professionals have a forum to learn, share and network.

Thank you and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.

Sincerely,

Kara E. Wordell

MRIMS President
